Vientiane, Lao PDR, 13 January, 2009 – The Working Group on Environment held its Third semi-annual meeting in Vientiane on 13 January, 2009. The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss key activities in the next phase of the Core Environment Program (2009 – 2011) for mainstreaming environmental considerations into sustainable development in the GMS. The meeting was chaired by Mme. Keobang A Keola, General Director of the National Secretariat of the GMS, WREA/Prime Minister’s Office, Lao PDR and co-chaired by Mr. Urooj Malik, Director, AENR, SEAD. Opening remarks were delivered by His Excellency Mr. Noulinh Sinhbandhit, Vice Minister, Prime Minister’s Office/Deputy Head of WREA, Lao PDR.
