Development of GIS data
- EOC identified gaps in the geographic information in the GMS
- In house development of new/improved datasets
- Coordination with Implementing Partners to foster develop of datasets (identification of gaps, capacity building)
- Developed so far in EOC:
- Seamless Digital Elevation and slope model for the GMS
- New river network based on DEM dataset
- GMS Projects in Key Development Sectors
Networking
- June 2006: CEP Data & Information Forum initiated to improve networking with IPs GIS units:
First Issue (PDF: 1.23MB | 2 pages),
Second Issue (PDF: 538KB | 2 pages)
- Informing GIS focal points about recent GIS-related events and new methods of potential importance to their work.
- Positive feedback from members, with more direct interaction between members developing.
Training
- November 2006: "Remote Sensing and GIS for beginners" held in Bangkok.
- 26 March – 6 April, 2007: "Biodiversity Modelling and Analysis using ESRI ArcGIS" held in Hanoi.
Dissemination for public use
There are 4 main EOC Geographic Tools available for public use. These tools are different in terms of ease of use, customization and speed depending on the purpose of use.
