Component 5: Program Development, Delivery and Sustainable Financing
Task Leader: (Chief Technical Adviser)

Aim: Initiate strategies and mechanisms to ensure long-term financial sustainability of the GMS Environment Management Cooperation Program (CEP/BCI).

Activities

• Develop mechanisms for Payment for Environmental Services to BCI pilot site communities
• Preparation of CEP/BCI Investment framework for 2009-2015

The objective of this particular component will be to develop financial options essentially based on funds from within the subregion. The Program will be taking another innovative approach here by developing environment service payments mechanisms to be agreed to with specific sectors, such as hydropower and tourism, since a protected natural environment will continue to provide them with the environmental services necessary for their future revenue streams.
