Aim: Self-sustaining GMS environmental governance and management regimes.

Activities

• GMS Environment Operations Center established and operational.
• Identifying options for institutionalizing subregional cooperation on environmental management.
• Build capacity for science-based environmental management planning and management.
• Develop multistakeholder plaftorms for environmental management.

• Integrated Sustainable Development Planning & Strategies for the GMS
• Brainstorming Workshop on "Programming for the CEP" and "Institutional Future for the EOC"
• An Environment Seminar for GMS Senior Officials
• EOC Operational since April 2006
• CEP/BCI National Support Units established
• CEP/BCI Implementation underway through government and non state partners
• GMS University Network operational
• Cross-Sectoral Thematic Groups identified
• Cross-Sectoral cooperation through deputation of GMS officials from key sectors to EOC underway
• Orientation Seminars on: Strategic Environment Assessment (SEA), Environment Performance Assessment (EPA), Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS), Geographic Information System (GIS)
• Baltic Sea Study tour: participated by 18 GMS officials
