Component 2: Biodiversity Conservation Corridors Initiative (BCI)
Task Leader: Dr. Hasan Moinuddin
Aim: By 2008, at least five biodiversity corridor pilot sites established, poverty reduction measures
and ecosystem restoration undertaken, and ecosystem service payment mechanisms developed.
Activities
- Initiate biodiversity corridor pilot sites within GMS economic corridors.
- Link biodiversity conservation to poverty reduction at pilot sites.
- Harmonized land management and governance regimes.
- Restoring ecosystem connectivity.
- Capacity building.
- Sustainable financing of the biodiversity corridor interventions.

- Socioeconomic assessments and identification of livelihood interventions in process: approximately 230,000 people are expected to benefit directly or indirectly through livelihood improvement interventions.
